Housecall Pro CSR AI review (2026): what it does and what it costs

Housecall Pro’s CSR AI answers calls 24/7 and books into your schedule, but its price isn’t published. What it does, what it can’t, what to ask sales.

Hear the AI receptionist answer a real call — 60 seconds →

Housecall Pro’s CSR AI is an AI receptionist built into Housecall Pro. It answers your calls 24/7, books, reschedules and cancels jobs on your Housecall Pro schedule, and sends you a summary after each call. Its price isn’t published: it’s an add-on you get quoted by sales, on top of a Housecall Pro plan that runs $59 to $299 a month billed annually. If you already run your jobs in Housecall Pro, that native booking is the main reason to buy it. The main reason to hesitate is that you can’t compare the price until you’ve sat through a sales call.

We sell a competing AI receptionist, so weigh what follows with that in mind. Claims about Housecall Pro below link to Housecall Pro’s own pages, plus one third-party pricing check, all viewed September 2026.

What does Housecall Pro CSR AI do?

Housecall Pro’s help center article on CSR AI (updated July 9, 2026) says it “answers your customer calls, summarizes them, and notif[ies] you after each completed call.” It can:

  • Book new jobs straight onto your Housecall Pro calendar.
  • Reschedule or cancel existing jobs, if you turn that on.
  • Summarize each call with the customer’s details and how urgent it is.
  • Escalate during business hours by forwarding the call to a number you choose, handing it to a Housecall Pro Assist agent, or ending politely and sending you notes. After hours, it can forward to a separate number, text you an alert or log a private note, and emergency calls always notify you.

Housecall Pro’s CSR AI page describes it working “24/7” and answering “across calls, chats, and texts (in Alpha).”

What can’t CSR AI do yet?

The same help article lists what’s still coming under “exciting updates are on the way.” As of its July 2026 update:

Capability Status per Housecall Pro’s help center
Answer calls, book, reschedule, cancel ✅ Available (though the article’s intro still calls booking “coming soon”)
Call summaries and notifications ✅ Available
Text (SMS) conversations Coming soon
Spanish Coming soon
Job inbox integration Coming soon
Suggested follow-up actions Coming soon

So today it’s a phone product in English. The feature page’s “texts (in Alpha)” and the help center’s “coming soon” describe the same thing: texting isn’t generally available yet. If Spanish-speaking callers are a big share of your business, that gap matters now.

Hear the receptionist take a real call — it rings your phone in about a minute.

How much does Housecall Pro CSR AI cost?

Housecall Pro doesn’t publish a price for it. On its pricing page, CSR AI is listed under “Get more done with Housecall Pro” add-ons with no price, and the FAQ says “Add-ons and extra users are optional.” ServiceHarness, which verified its numbers in July 2026, describes it the same way: “a separately priced add-on quoted by sales.” We haven’t found a figure we trust enough to print, so we won’t guess.

What is published is the plan it sits on (Housecall Pro pricing page, September 2026):

Plan Billed annually Billed monthly Users included
Basic $59/mo $79/mo 1
Essentials $149/mo $189/mo 5
MAX $299/mo $329/mo 8 (extra users $35/mo each)

Housecall Pro says it doesn’t require long-term contracts.

Is CSR AI worth it?

Start with a number you can get before you talk to sales: how many calls you miss. Pull last month’s call log and count the missed and voicemail calls, during work hours and after. Then get the CSR AI price and divide it by your average job value. That’s how many jobs a month it has to save to pay for itself. If the answer is one and you miss a dozen calls a week, it’s an easy yes.

Housecall Pro’s page claims “Pros with CSR AI earn over 2x more revenue on average.” It doesn’t say how it was measured, and businesses that buy an add-on like this are often the busier, faster-growing ones already. It shows who buys CSR AI, not what CSR AI does for you.

Buy it if you run Housecall Pro, most of your leads call rather than text, and you want bookings landing straight on your existing schedule with no second system. Wait if you need Spanish, you need the AI to text customers today, or the quote doesn’t make sense against your missed-call count.

Housecall Pro CSR AI vs Jobber Receptionist vs Stack Space

The two field-service rivals both sell an AI receptionist now. Jobber publishes its price, and Housecall Pro doesn’t. Here they are with ours, as of September 2026.

If you’re committed to Housecall Pro, CSR AI’s best feature is one we can’t match. Its bookings land in the same schedule your techs already work from. Stack Space doesn’t integrate with Housecall Pro, so running ours next to it means a booking lives in two places.

Stack Space fits two cases:

  • You don’t run a field-service app, or you’re choosing one. Stack Space is a CRM with the AI receptionist built in, plus estimates, invoices and review requests, at a price you can see. Starter is $125/mo with 250 receptionist minutes, roughly 63–125 calls at 2–4 minutes each. At the entry level it costs more per call than Jobber’s add-on: Launch’s 45 minutes cover about 11–22 calls for $30. Robocalls use minutes too, unless you block the number. You can hear the receptionist answer a call on the AI receptionist page before you pay anything.
  • You want the front office separate from dispatch. Some shops keep their field-service app for the trucks and run calls, follow-up and reviews in a CRM. We laid out that split in the best CRM for home services.

What we don’t do: dispatch boards, GPS, job costing or payroll. For those, Housecall Pro and Jobber are the stronger tools. Comparing the two platforms themselves? See Jobber vs Housecall Pro, and for Jobber’s add-on in depth, our Jobber AI Receptionist review.

What to ask Housecall Pro sales about CSR AI

  1. “What’s the monthly price for CSR AI on my plan, and is it per location?” Get it in writing.
  2. “Is there a cap on calls or minutes, and what happens past it?” Jobber’s version pauses or charges per conversation. Ask how CSR AI works.
  3. “When will texting and Spanish be generally available?” The help center lists both as not yet available.
  4. “Can I set the questions it must ask before booking?” For trades, a booking with no description of the problem means calling the customer back.
  5. “What does it cost to hand a call to Housecall Pro Assist?” Escalation to Housecall Pro’s agents is an option, so check whether that has its own price.
  6. “Can I cancel CSR AI on its own?” Housecall Pro says its plans have no long-term contract; confirm the add-on works the same way.
